DRY EYES
We also offer a Dry Eye Clinic in addition to
any eye examination. If your eyes feel dry, scratchy and irritated
it may be because your eyes produce too little tear fluid, or the
quality of your tears has changed, causing them to evaporate from
their surfaces too rapidly.
Dry Eye is a condition that affects millions of people. Every
time you blink, tears form a coating that protects and nourishes
the eyes' surface. If tear production becomes reduced or tears fail
to coat the surface of the eye for long enough, the uncomfortable
symptoms of Dry Eye will be the result.
The optometrists at Jane Smellie Opticians are fully trained in
the management of Dry Eye. You can be sure our dedicated clinic
will find a tailor-made solution to your problem. This may be
the use of eye drops, eye gels and eye bags at home or if your
condition requires it we also offer a lacrimal dilation and
syringing service for blocked tear ducts.
RED EYES
Woken up with a red, sore eye? Drops your
GP/Pharmacist prescribed you not working? At Jane Smellie Opticians
we provide a PROBLEM eye clinic.
Red, watery eyes producing a lot of discharge can be the sign of
an infection, but it is important to identify what kind of
infection you have prior to treatment being offered.
GP/Pharmacists will often prescribe a multi-action antibacterial
drop, but sometimes this may not clear up the infection, and in
very few cases can worsen symptoms. It is also important to
find out how you developed the infection in the first instance, to
prevent recurrent infections.
You can be sure that a fully trained optometrist will manage
your case of red eye, discuss the findings and advise a treatment
and prevention plan with you. Whether it is removing a
foreign body from your eye, an ingrowing eyelash or advising a
treatment of drops.
